The Family

The Menkens Family own and operate Tropical Ice and Chunk Ice. Mark and Mary Menkens purchased Tropical Ice in Townsville 17 years ago and have been in the industry ever since.

The expansion into Mackay occurred 18 months ago with the purchase of Chunk Ice, which is now managed by son Ben and son-in-law Glen.

Our Company

We are a packaged ice manufacturing and distribution company built on providing the highest quality product with the highest quality service. Through our Tropical Ice and Chunk Ice brands we have grown to be the largest supplier of packaged ice in regional Queensland. Our manufacturing plant in Townsville has a capacity to produce 90T of crushed ice per day, which is delivered to our 600 retail customers with a fleet of 11 refrigerated delivery vehicles.
